I am Pallavi Prakash Jha, an Urban Planner / Architect / Interior Designer by profession. I
am currently working with Government of Jharkhand at Ranchi, India through PMU,
JUIDCO Ltd. for World Bank funded JMDP (Jharkhand Municipal Development
Projects). I have studied Architecture from Mumbai University, India and i have done my masters in City and Regional Planning from the Ohio State University, USA.
With design, I am more inclined towards sustainable and utilitarian spatial planning with focus on affordability. I proficiently use many different softwares that enable me with time saving techniques for Architectural Design and Urban Planning.
I have about 16 years of experience in using GIS in Planning and Design. I use many proprietary / open source GIS software for Multiple Criteria site suitability analysis incorporating AHP for participatory planning process, modelling site contours for accurate slope analysis comprising extraction of buildable area (BUP) as per slope restriction, watershed modeling for marking conservation areas, creating comprehensive maps for spotting maximum height limitation based on airport regulations, projecting maps on google earth, getting right coordinates for construction using GPS points, recommending appropriate satellite image for mapping, route analysis, cut fill analysis, CAD to GIS conversion and much more.
I blog on smart city communities in developing country context at www.smartcityresidents.blogspot.in. The aim is to spread awareness about smart cities among common people so that they are more informed about the subject and issues, thus encouraging conscious participation of people. Short films and art works are main medium for reaching out to people which may be seen on this blog.
